The South Ayrshire Junior Golf Club.

Founded 2007

Welcome to the first version of the South Ayrshire Junior Golf Club web site.

Indoor practice at Maybole and competing in the pre handicap over Fullarton.

CAN THE CLUB SURVIVE?

Following the revelations at the AGM that the Council have still not responded to the Club's request for confirmation of their fixture list, it would appear South Ayrshire Junior Golf Club are being driven out of existence. With the vast majority of the committee resigning and a skeleton group hanging on till the 2nd May to ascertain whether the parents wish the club to survive the Club now finds it cannot even put out a provisional fixture list as their repeated requests to Mr Roddy MacDonald are ignored. Any parents willing to help out next season should contact the secretary before the 2nd May.

AGM and EGM

All members should have received notification of the AGM and EGM to be held at the Abbotsford Hotel on Thursday 1st April. I would be grateful if members would advise if they are likely to attend at their earliest opportunity.

PRESENTATION DAY AT THE ABBOTSFORD HOTEL.

The club held its first prize giving on Sunday 6th December at the Abbotsford Hotel where Ruaridh Sayce became South Ayrshire Junior Golf Clubs first Club Champion and picked up the Provost's Quaich. Ross Meikle was honoured with the Abbotsford Trophy as the gallant runner up. In addition Ruairidh was voted by his fellow members 'club member of the year' and collected the Ayrshire Housing Trophy.

All members who attended along with their parents / guardians had an enjoyable afternoon with an excellent buffet provided and PGA Pros Richard Gordon and Gordon McKinlay providing entertainment and prizes for everyone.

In addition to the trophy's those golfers who had competed in a minimum of three competitions received their handicaps whilst the rest were advised of the next step toward gaining that handicap.

The committee would like to thank all the members and parents / guardians who attended the prize giving especially those who expressed an interest in assisting next season including joining the Club committee and assisting in competition organisation.

MEMBERSHIP.

Please note any persons wishing to join South Ayrshire Junior Golf Club should click on our Membership page where a form can be downloaded.

WHO THE CLUB IS AIMED AT.

As you can tell from these photographs this club is not being targeted at low handicap adult golfers. The club is aimed at 'new starts' to golf who wish to progress in a structured environment where knowledge of the rules and etiquette of the game are as important as the ability to hit a golf ball long and straight.

Once members have reached a level of knowledge and ability there should be an opportunity to join one of the local clubs allied to South Ayrshire Councils junior development programme. However, whilst waiting for that opportunity South Ayrshire Junior Golf Club will attempt to ensure that membership is both enjoyable and stimulating with competitions being held regularly and club handicaps available to all.

Over the next few months we will be adding new features to the site including today's tip, shot of the month and, giving you, the members, the opportunity to contribute to what is your web site.

Please feel free to contact the webmaster at any time to express your opinions and any suggestions you may have to improve the web site.
